Ahmadinejad bans use of foreign words

This cracked me up. According to Associated Press, some of the modified Persian words that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ordered his goverment institutions use from now on are “elastic loaves” instead of “pizzas”, and “short talk” instead of a “chat”.

Does it really matter what wacky title you give your elastic loaves? Does language possess such a magical quality that it changes the flavor of this “kneaded dough with baked cheese and tomatoes”? I think what Ahmadinejad just doesn’t like the aftertaste of a cultural revolution.
